World Class Golf Vacations - Los Cabos

Mexico - synonymous with beaches, spring break and mariachi music and I am adding one more to that list - GOLF! I know what you are thinking - it’s summer, it’s Mexico and it’s HOT, why do I want to bake on a golf course? Let me tell you that Mexico has some of the most beautiful and pristine golf courses in the world! Most courses even offer twilight rates as early as 10:30am to avoid the heat - even A/C in the cart on some courses. That way you can be off the course and on the beach sipping on a margarita by the time the real heat hits. You can play courses that have been designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Tom Weiskopf. This blog post is focusing on some of the top public courses in Los Cabos, Mexico and in the weeks to come we will discuss other great golf vacations.

Cabo Real – Championship golf course that has hosted several tournaments including the PGA Senior Slam. This is a favorite among people who travel here but is considered the toughest front nine in Los Cabos. This is a challenging course that plays very different from the front nine to the back nine. The front nine plays more in the desert and hills whereas the back nine has wider fairways and is along the ocean. And with three ocean front holes you might be lucky enough to see whales cheering you on as you sink the ever-elusive birdie putt! Less expensive than some other courses in Los Cabos, Cabo Real is an impressive course with great deals.

One&Only Palmilla – Signature design course of Jack Nicklaus and managed by Troon Golf you know this is going to be a course to remember. Palmilla now features 3 nines, Arroyo nine, Mountain nine, and Ocean 9. As you can tell by the names of the different nines you are going to get holes on the ocean, in the mountains and over canyons. With all the different views and elevations this makes Palmilla maybe the most picturesque golf course in Los Cabos (Nearly every hole has a view of the Sea of Cortez). The best part of the course…A/C in all the carts!

Cabo Del Sol – Features two of the best courses in all of Mexico and some of the most dramatic holes. The Ocean and Desert courses are the favorites among tourists, locals and professionals. While you are there don’t be surprised if you bump into some of today’s biggest super-stars! These are the most expensive courses as well but the views and conditions are worth every penny

Ocean Course - Another Nicklaus signature course that he says “is the best piece of golf property in the world”. The Ocean course of Cabo Del Sol spans for over a mile along the coastline of the ocean. It’s hard to disagree with Nicklaus on this course especially when it looks and plays like Pebble Beach!

Desert Course – Designed by Tom Weiskopf, this course ranks only behind the Ocean Course in Golf Digests “Top Courses in Mexico.” It still has the beautiful views of the ocean but you are set back from the coast playing in the canyons and desert. With undulating greens and elevated tee boxes you are going to enjoy your 18 holes on the Desert Course.

Cabo San Lucas Country Club – Unlike some of the other courses you will not be on the ocean while playing this course but you do have views of the ocean on holes four, five and six with elevations changing as much as 300feet. Just because the ocean isn’t there doesn’t mean that there isn’t any water…there are nine lakes on this course that come into play. Be sure to bring the BIG driver because you will run into the longest hole in Mexico…#7 is a 610-yard par five that doglegs around the lake. Bring your camera to this course to take pictures of the beautiful and famous Land’s End rock formation.
