Hawaiian Sunset

The Hawaiian sunsets are so gorgeous they actually take your breath away. The photo is a picture I took right outside a Hawaiian Island hotel room as the afternoon sun went down. I saw this beautiful sunset every day and was blown away each time. It is something I will never forget and decided to enlarge this picture to full-size and frame it.
I actually thought that a trip to Hawaii was overrated, but I was proven very wrong. My Hawaii trip was the best trip I ever took, and I have traveled quite often to many faraway exotic places including Jamaica, Virgin Islands, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Great Britain, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia. In my opinion, going to any of the Hawaiian Islands is a one of a kind trip and has the most wonderful and friendly people you could meet. I can now understand why so many travel there and decide to stay.
My fondest memory of my trip was walking on a trail along the Maui beach, which goes on for miles and miles, hoping to catch a glimpse of a whale. I walked everyday passing all kinds of people, seeing a whale spout, catching a Hawaiian wedding ceremony in progress, seeing colorful Hawaiian dancers, and browsing the many crafts for sale at the markets.
At one Hawaiian market, I bought a beautiful handmade purse with a striking palm tree print and bamboo handles. When I got back home, I liked the purse so much I emailed the lady in Hawaii and asked if I could purchase the matching small coin purse. Lo and behold, the purse lady sent me the matching coin purse at no charge only asking if I travel to Hawaii again, to look her up. Now that attests to the great people in Hawaii. I have not forgotten this, I have recommended her to others, and will look her up when I return.
My second fondest memory has to do with a special stray cat that roamed near the Maui hotel. He seemed to follow me whenever I was on the hotel grounds whether I was on my hotel patio, eating breakfast at the buffet, or walking in the lush gardens. The cat was such a frequent sighting that I named the cat Zoe and started looking for him everyday. I asked the hotel management about the cat, and they said years ago there was another hotel stray cat that enjoyed being around the hotel guests. The cat became so special that many hotel guests would return each year to see him and actually donated money for cat food, veterinary services and more. Now that’s something awesome! I hope when I return to the hotel, Zoe the cat will be there to greet me. I have a cute picture of him and would love to see him again.
Lastly, I cannot say enough about the calming aura of the Hawaiian Islands themselves. It is almost medicinal in nature. I know many who healed themselves by going to Hawaii and not just because they were on vacation. The islands have a unique specialness to them. I actually was taking some minor medication for a couple of months prior to my vacation, and returned back to the states medication free. I do think there are healing powers in the islands, and I do not care if no one believes me. They healed me, and I will forever be in love with the Hawaiian Islands.

What a great story - Hawaii really is a special place and if someone has never been here they just can’t know how special.
I love the story about the cat - when I was on my honeymoon at the MWR cabins at the Naval Base on Kauai there was a stray cat that seemed to live under our cabin. We fed him and my husband named him Buzz. When we got home my husband went to the humane society and brought us home our own Buzz that looked just like that Buzz.
